the past in a suitcase

My studio is pretty messy right now.
I painted the walls in a colour called linen.

I'm usually slow at sorting things out as I get too easily distracted.
I went to an antique market and found this little suitcase, the perfect place to store my inherited laces
(from my great grandmother, my grandmother and my husband grandmother)
there are only few but I love to look at them.
The black one belonged to my great grandmother (as my mum told me)
and it's at least a 100 years old, it's very delicate.

Alala cette dentelle noire est magnifique !! :)

Cette valise est vraiment une trouvaille avec ces initiales, je l'imagine remplie d'instruments ou de matériel, un set de toilette peut-être ?

Bonne pause, à bientôt, Séverine.

Must be so much fun to get your own space organized, and look through your treasures. The pineapple black lace is pretty amazing. I wonder what it was used for.

A nice post. Such lovely lace, and the case too. I wonder who made that black lace - a crazy amount of stitching!

The black lace looks very exotic? Where does it come from? Italy?

to francesca:unfortunately i have no idea, but i still remember the first time my mum showed to me, i was a child...not allowed to touch it though!

to lollipop: thank you :)))

to bohemian girl: yes it's from italy, precisely from Sicily as my great grandmother (from my father) was sicilian...that's perhaps why it looks exotic.

to all: thank you, it's always a pleasure to read your comment! you are very kind!

Oh what treasures. You really showcased them well in your photos, though it would be so much fun to sit and chat while hearing the stories behind each individual piece in person...over coffee and buns! ;^)
